Linde’s new air separation plant (ASU) in Kėdainiai, Lithuania, is now fully operational, supplying the Baltic market with industrial and liquid oxygen and nitrogen products.

The plant has been operating on a trial basis since early December, however, final approvals for the completion of construction work now mean that the plant can operate to its full potential.

According to Darius Kočanas, Plant Manager, the tests showed that the equipment fully complied with both quantitative and qualitative technical parameters and can produce up to 100 tonnes of nitrogen and oxygen per day.

“Increased production capacity will allow us to meet the growing consumer demand. The new plant will help expand and strengthen the existing position of the industrial gas market leader in the region and will allow the development of new gas application projects,” said Dalius Klyvis, Baltic Business Development Manager at Linde.

The new air decomposition plant has been designed to have minimal impact on the environment and to use resources economically. It further features efficient energy consumption and the ability to adjust production loads if necessary. The plant will be operated using green electricity produced from renewable energy sources.

As well as Linde Engineering, the plant was built with partners from Lithuania for construction, hardware installation, and energy supply systems. Approximately €20m was invest in the facility.
